Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture: #NDPCbootcamp for Cross-Innovation (Latvia)

This year #NDPCbootcamp will bring together 10 practitioners from the Cultural and Creative Sectors (CCSs) and 10 practitioners from other sectors for cross-sectoral exchange and to enhance collaboration skills. The bootcamp aims to be the seed for new perspectives and collaborative innovations long after the event. It will take place in Līgatne, Latvia from 31 May – 4 June 2023.

To create a more sustainable world, all sectors need to work collaboratively to drive innovation and embrace new ways of living, working, producing, utilising resources, and perceiving the world.

Exploring unfamiliar sectors can provide valuable insights for generating new ideas for projects, formats, products, services, processes and more. By looking beyond one’s own sector, new impulses can be found that can drive innovation and growth for everyone involved – both on individual and societal levels.

You should apply if you are:

Interested in gaining new knowledge and inspiration about creative cross-innovations.
Eager to learn how to establish new formats of cross-sectoral collaborations.
Looking for fresh perspectives on your day-to-day professional challenges.
Excited to connect with diverse peers with similar interests.

NDPC will provide accommodation, meals, coaching, content and the equipment required for the Bootcamp. If you would like to participate, but your current financial situation doesn’t allow you to cover travel costs, you can also apply for the Bootcamps’ travel grant (4 spots available).

Practitioners from CCSs AND practitioners from other sectors from Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland and Sweden can apply.

Mobility and collaboration Funding for the Cultural and Creative Industries Sector in the Northern Dimension Area

In spring 2021, Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) jointly with EU National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) launched a call for proposals for the development of the Mapping Study and Report: mobility and collaboration funding for the cultural and creative industries sector in Northern Dimension Area

On the Move was commissioned to produce this document providing an analysis of the context of cultural mobility in the Northern Dimension countries, of the needs of culture and creative professionals, and of the strengths and weaknesses of existing regional cultural mobility schemes, including in light of COVID-19 restrictions and their impact on existing programmes.

Additionally, the report provides recommendations for a regional mobility scheme for artists and culture professionals from the Culture and Creative Industries that will be further applied to launch new professional mobility grant scheme within ND region.

The Mapping Study and report is a part of activities within the joint project between NDPC and EUNIC ‘Support to the NDPC’, co-funded by the European Union.

EUNIC / NDPC: Northern Spaces for Creative Innovation Call for Cross-sectoral Innovation

The Northern Spaces for Creative Innovation is open to cultural and creative industries (CCI) organisations from Northern Dimension countries to submit project ideas for cross-sectoral innovation.

Organisations from the cultural and creative industries sector are invited to test collaboration models and processes that create spaces, whether physical or digital, for cross-sectoral collaboration and innovation in the Northern Dimension countries. The programmes is looking for collaboration models that connect the CCI field with the digital, economic, environmental, social, education and other sectors, building up a cross-sectoral cooperation ecosystem.

The call is open to organisations working in one or more of the Northern Dimension partner countries: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia, and Sweden. A minimum of three partners from the Northern Dimension countries are required with one of them administering the application. The project team should include a diversity of stakeholders in the concerned countries, including at least one partner representing a non-CCI sector.

At this stage you can apply for an amount between 5000-10,000 EUR. If your idea is selected, you and your partners will have six months to test and up-scale it and apply to implement your project for a total amount of up to 60,000 EUR.

Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture: Digital and Communications Manager (Latvia)

NDPC - Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture are seeking a Digital and Communications Manager to work closely with the NDPC Secretariat Director and EUNIC/NDPC Project Coordinator and Manager at the organisation’s offices in Riga, Latvia.

As a Digital and Communications Manager, you will support NDPC in their aim to enhance dialogue and practical cooperation between actors in the cultural and creative industries sectors from Northern Dimension countries. Moreover, you will provide support to the team and ensure that social media and digital tools are at the heart of their communication campaigns. You will be playing a key role in managing NDPC’s online community and keeping both stakeholders and members up to date.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

An entrepreneurial mindset, be self-driven and have passion for Cultural and Creative Industries.
A willingness to roll up your sleeves and get work done.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English (you must love writing and storytelling!).
Experience creating compelling content and campaigns across a variety of channels and tools (using social media channels and other tools).
To work well in a creative environment where you can be a trusted colleague and take the lead on comms activities (such as open calls, outreach to stakeholders, website, community building, and publications and reports).
Have structure and ability to plan your own work and own processes.
Be hands on and support colleagues in organisation of events and workshops (yes, international travel is to be expected).

Starting date is 15 September 2021 or as soon as possible for a two-year contract (with a possibility of extension) under Latvian law. The employee will be based at the NDPC Secretariat in Riga. Applicants must have a valid working permit to work in the EU. Salary is 1900 EUR gross per month.

The Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) is an initiative focusing on the improvement of operating conditions for cultural and creative industries. Since 2010, the NDPC has served as a regional focal point regarding information on policy developments in culture and creative industries (CCI), regional collaboration and access to financing for CCIs, as well as facilitated networking activities.

The activity area covers 11 countries: Russia, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Germany. The NDPC Secretariat’s office is situated in Riga, Latvia.

They are offering a full-time position of a Cultural and Creative Industry Project Advisor at the NDPC Secretariat in Riga, with an attractive salary and working conditions (considering the COVID-19 restrictions, first months of the employment are possible as a remote work). You will be welcomed by a small, friendly, open-minded and supportive team who believe in work-life balance, empowering the employees and encouraging initiative at the workplace. Contract-based employment for a period of up to two years. The contract includes an initial three-month probation period.

The main responsibilities of the Advisor are:

Open Call for Projects, ‘Arts and Culture for a Better and Healthier Life’

With an open call for projects NDPC, in partnership with NDPHS, EUNIC and Arts Promotion Centre Finland, is launching the project ‘The Art of Staying Healthy’. In the project, the partners aim to develop collaboration between the arts and health sectors and to pilot arts interventions on the health and well-being of people and communities in the Northern Dimension area.

The recent WHO report on the role of the arts in improving health and well-being highlighted the important role of the arts sector in promoting good health, preventing mental and physical health challenges and supporting the treatment of acute and chronic conditions. Engaging in arts and cultural activities can reduce loneliness and isolation, increase social cohesion, strengthen individual and group identity and help to address social inequalities.

The Art of Staying Healthy aims to develop collaboration between the arts and health sectors and to pilot arts interventions on the health and well-being of people and communities in the Northern Dimension (ND) area, which covers Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Russia and Sweden.

Organisations are invited to submit ideas that explore the possibilities of integrating arts and cultural activities into the provision of health and social care services. The proposals should engage specific target groups, for example, vulnerable populations, different age groups or patient groups. Definitions of arts and health can be found in section 1.1 of the WHO report. Use these as a reference, but notice that other creative, cultural, or health care areas are also included in the open call.

The successful applicants will be offered workshops and mentoring to develop their ideas and will receive a grant to pilot the methodologies and implement project activities.

EU National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) and Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture (NDPC) are launching a call for proposals for the development of the Mapping Study and Report: mobility and collaboration funding for the cultural and creative industries sector in Northern Dimension Area. This call is organised within the project ‘Support to the Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture’.

One of key activities foreseen within the project is the creation of an NDPC regional mobility scheme that will build the capacity of regional cultural and creative industry professionals, enhance cross-disciplinary exchanges and intercultural dialogue, and explore markets. A regional NDPC mobility scheme could create an added value in terms of boosting creativity, exploring markets and developing careers.

Therefore, EUNIC and NDPC are looking for an author or team of authors to map and analyse the existing mobility and funding mechanisms available for the CCI stakeholders in the Northern Dimension countries. The study should include a needs and context analysis, provide support for strategic positioning of the NDPC in the region, and produce a list of recommendations for creating a NDPC mobility and small-scale project grant scheme in the future.

The deliverables should be finalised by mid-September 2021. The detailed timeframe is flexible. The available budget for this piece of work is in the region of 5000 to 10,000 euros including VAT.

NDPC - Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture: Project Manager / Communications Manager (Latvia)

The Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture focuses on improving operational conditions for cultural and creative industries, bridging the gap between various sources of funding and sectors of activity, and strengthening cooperation between project owners, business communities, the public sector and international institutions throughout Northern Europe.

NDPC are currently recruiting for two separate positions.

First, they are seeking a Project Manager to oversee the EU-funded project ‘Support to Northern Dimension Partnership on Culture’, a regional project implemented in partnership with EU National Institutes for Culture – EUNIC. The project aims to enhance dialogue and practical cooperation across culture and creativity sectors between actors from Northern Dimension countries as well as to contribute to the implementation of the NDPC strategy.

Second, they are seeking a motivated Communications Manager to provide communication support to the EU-funded project’s team and NDPC Secretariat. The Communications Manager will take a leading role in elaborating and driving the communication strategy and will be responsible for high quality content development, media relations and digital communications within the project.

Both posts will start 15 March 2021 or as soon as possible and are based in Riga, Latvia. Initial contracts are full-time for two years. Salary is agreed upon according to the job profile and years of professional experience of the selected candidate, in line with the NDPC’s remuneration policy.
