STUDIO2 / ITI Germany: Performance Residency for Artists Based in Germany and Poland

From 31 July – 13 August 2023 Materia in Łódź, and from 17-30 August 2023, STUDIO2 of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in Berlin will each be hosting one artistic research residency. The residencies are aimed at individual artists or groups of up to two artists from the field of dance, theatre and performance (including interdisciplinary work). The residencies will enable open artistic research on a self-selected theme at each unique partner venue and the use of the specific local organisational infrastructure for the artistic work.

The aim of this cooperation project is to combine the working experiences and methods of the participating artists and cultural organisations in Poland and in Germany. The mutual exchange from different perspectives will enable the artists and organisations to expand their knowledge of what sustainable transnational support structures for artist residencies can look like. Each residency project should therefore include some participatory sequences based on the individual approach of the artists in residency, such as but not limited to public sharings, discussion rounds, digital publications, or workshop formats.

Moreover, there will be a joint conference in October in Łódź, which shall give the artists the opportunity to reconsider the work process during the residencies and get into an exchange with the other residents and the participating organisations.

Both residencies include:

The residency artist(s) (up to two) will receive a compensation of 500 Euros each.
The budget for accommodation and stay for each artist comes to 550 Euros.
A mobility grant of up to 150 Euros each is offered for those who will have to travel to Berlin or Łodz.

International Theatre Institute Yearbook 2018: Co_laboration

The ITI yearbook 2018 is addressing the issue of the condition and perspectives of artistic cooperation. Festival curators, ensemble directors and networkers report from their experience with international work. Contributors are among others: Chang Nai Wen, Martine Dennewald, Annika Hampel, Günther Heeg, Marta Keil, Krystel Khoury, Jens Van Lathem, Kerstin Ortmeier, Iulia PopoviciZoë Svendsen and Anmol Vellani.
