European Music Council: EMC Fellowship Programme

The EMC Fellowship Programme offers emerging professionals working in the field of music an opportunity to internationalise their careers and develop professionally. During one year (with the possibility of extension for another year), up to 10 young people are invited to take part in the European Forum on Music, get exclusive access to further EMC events, and be included in the EMC’s internal (membership) communication. The EMC Fellows are open-minded persons, motivated to engage in cultural policy discussions and committed to the values of musical diversity and the ideals of the 5 music rights.

Benefits:

Attendance at the EMC Lab in Brussels – 10-11 June 2022
The Fellowship starts with a grant that covers all costs (travel, accommodation, and registration fee) related to the attendance at the EMC Lab, the new format to bring together EMC member organisations and their own members alongside former and present fellows. The Lab will take place in Brussels on 10 and 11 June: save the date!
Attendance at the European Forum on Music in 2023
The European Forum on Music is EMC’s flagship in-person conference and you will get a front row seat! EMC will again offer a grant that covers all costs (travel, accommodation, and registration fee).
Access to EMCs membership benefits
Fellows have access to all EMC members-only benefits for one year (with the possibility of extension for a second year). These include the EMC’s internal membership communication as well as exclusive access to EMC events.
Networking and Professional Development
Fellows are given the opportunity to expand their professional network through the EMC and are invited to take part in the EMCs activities (e.g. as experts, speakers, writers); online or on-site.
One-to-one Mentoring Programme
Fellows can participate in the exclusive EMC Mentoring Programme to receive individual support by senior EMC members with extensive experience in the fellow’s field of interest.
Continuous Involvement
There is no abrupt end: former fellows are invited to stay in touch with the EMC network and share their expertise and experience, even after the end of their Fellowship season.

Ideally applicants to the project will have a reference from an EMC member.

European Music Council: Communication Officer (Germany)

Based in Bonn, Germany, the European Music Council (EMC), the regional group for Europe of the International Music Council (IMC), exists to support the interests of its 75+ member organisations, which include national music councils and music organisations from across Europe. The EMC initiates and organises cooperation projects, conferences and workshops on a European level, and is active in the field of cultural policy.

The EMC is currently hiring a Communication Officer to contribute to the development of the organisation in response to the needs of the European music sector in the 21st century. They are looking for an open-minded and dynamic person, with an interest in European music and cultural policy issues as well as international networking.

Tasks and responsibilities:

Developing and implementing the communication strategies and plans of the EMC.
Review and update of EMC website.
Production and implementation of EMC communication tools and activities (publications, website, newsletters, social media accounts, EMC podcast, etc.).
Creation and editing of content for websites, newsletters, social media, brochures, news articles, press releases – including layout, video/audio editing.
Drafting press releases, and fostering existing as well as establishing new PR contacts with the relevant media.
Coordination of external service providers (web design, layouts for print, printers, web host).
Assisting the EMC Team with the organisation of EMC events, such as the European Forum on Music (online, hybrid and offline); EMC Webinars as well as EMC membership lounges.
Assisting the EMC Team with general administration tasks (email-correspondence, shipping of material, dispatch of info-material, data-maintenance etc.).

The contract will be limited to 36 months, with a starting date as soon as possible. According to your professional experience the salary will range between 2500 and 2800 Euro (gross).

European Music Council / Inova+: MusicAIRE Think Tanks (Online)

After having published a questionnaire for a first needs analysis of the music sector, MusicAIRE is happy to announce an open call for participation in the MusicAIRE think tanks. Based on the analysis of the questionnaire, the think tanks will identify what kind of support the music sector needs in the areas of green, digital and just and resilient recovery. The findings of the think tanks will form the basis of the ‘call for grants’ to be published in the frame of MusicAIRE in January 2022.

The think tanks will take place on 18 November and 16 December 2021 from 10:00-13:00 CET – so please save the dates! Please make sure that you are available on both dates, as it will not be possible to change representatives between the two meetings because they will build on each other. All think-tank meetings will take place online.

The EMC Fellows are open-minded persons, motivated to engage in cultural policy discussions and committed to the values of musical diversity and the ideals of the 5 music rights.

Benefits:

Attendance at the European Forum on Music: The fellowship starts with a travel grant that includes all costs related to the attendance at the EMC’s annual conference (travel costs, accommodation and the registration fee).
Access to EMC’s membership benefits: Fellows have access to all EMC member benefits for one year. This does not only include becoming part of an international music community that includes European and international music organisations from all genres and sectors, but also getting access to the EMC’s internal membership communication as well as exclusive attendance for EMC events.
Networking and Professional Development: The Fellows expand their professional network through the EMC and are invited to take part in the EMC’s activities as experts, speakers, writers…

Networking and International Cooperation

Live DMA co-organised together with the European Music Council and in cooperation with the Latvian Music Council a summer course on Networking & Cooperation in September 2017 in Cesis, Latvia. 15 music professionals from Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe participated at this 5 days seminar in order tobuild and structure their cooperation projects with the input from experts on mobility, funding mechanisms,observation & data, lobbying & advocacy, and partnership management.

Building on the methodology and inputs of this summer course, Live DMA and the European Music Council created a Networking & Cooperation online course. The project STAMP is funded by the ERASMUS+ programme.
